Georgetown, Guyana

Does anyone out there consider Guyana as a tourist destination for themselves? It was kind of a surprise for me down there, and we have traveled all over. A pleasant surprise it really was, I was expecting something like Haiti. No tourists, extremely underdeveloped, etc, etc, and yeah, and let's not forget the water. The water was drinkable, at least we never got sick, and the food was GREAT!!!!!!! We loved Georgetown, Guyana, and are anticipating a return to South America.

We stayed at the Le Meridien Pegasus Hotel in Georgetown for a week and loved it. The rooms are clean, and the housekeeping staff is very efficient. The hotel has a great and rather large pool. At the far end of the pool there is the main hotel bar, which serves until after midnight nightly.
